The HR Space is a supportive community that provides confidential, expert-led supervision that protects and sustains senior HR leaders, helping them decompress, reflect, and lead with renewed clarity.

What do we mean by ‘supervision’?

Supervision is a structured process that’s standard for therapists, coaches, and many healthcare professionals. It’s designed to protect wellbeing, sustain effectiveness, and provide a confidential space to explore the emotional, ethical, and relational challenges that come with supporting others.

In simple terms, it’s a blend of reflection, support, and professional guidance. Supervision gives you time and space to talk through the difficult stuff, gain perspective, and leave lighter and clearer.

For HR leaders, that’s vital — because it’s not just that you carry a heavy load; the rest of the leadership team often leans on you too. That dual burden is unsustainable without the kind of structured, psychologically safe support that supervision provides.

Why us?

The HR Space is created and powered by Mind Values Leadership (MVL), a coaching consultancy dedicated to transforming leadership through courageous conversations, behavioural insight, and human-centred growth. 

Emma Canter, MVL’s Founder and a former senior HR leader, has spent her career supporting leaders and holding the complexities of HR at the highest levels. She is now a leadership coach working with CPOs, VPs, HR Directors and other senior leaders. Emma knows first-hand the weight HR leaders carry and the difference it makes to have a safe, structured outlet for reflection.

Working alongside her is Dr Erica Bowen, an EMCC-accredited coach-mentor, Chartered Psychologist, and HCPC-registered practitioner psychologist with more than two decades in senior academic leadership.

Renowned for her “caring but daring” leadership style, she has led high-performing departments and cross-university teams and now runs an international coaching practice supporting women in leadership.
Her approach integrates developmental psychology, neuropsychology, and trauma-informed practice with future-focused positive psychology coaching. Clients describe her as combining ‘pointy questions’ with deep compassion, fun, and honesty.

In The HR Space, Erica brings both psychological depth and real-world leadership insight, creating a reflective, empowering environment that helps HR leaders sustain themselves while leading others.

How it works

The HR Space is not a course or membership. It’s a structured programme of supervision designed to build a community and sustain you over the long term.

Cohorts will be carefully curated to maximise safety and confidentiality. We won’t include more than one participant from the same employer, and cohorts won’t contain market competitors.

FAQs - The HR Space

How will confidentiality be protected?

Every participant signs an NDA and a supervision contract. Sessions are held under clear, professional boundaries.

What if my competitor applies?

Cohorts are carefully curated to avoid competitors being in the same group. We also ensure no two people from the same employer are placed together.

What if I can’t attend every session?

Regular attendance is encouraged to protect the integrity of the cohort, but we recognise that sometimes life and work get in the way. The commitment is 12 months, with understanding for unavoidable absences.
